You may not even have noticed when visiting Charing Cross station, but the Charing Cross Hotel is a permanent historical fixture over looking oblivious commuters as they go about their stressful commute.
Strangely enough the hotel’s grandeur is masked slightly by the chaos of Charing Cross station. On entering the hotel you are taken away from the noisy metropolis back in time to the mid-19th century when the hotel was originally built. The hotel has been under recent refurbishment preserving it’s authentic period features whilst giving a more modern 21st century touch.
The Charing Cross Hotel’s location is superb and arguably in the exact center of London. Visitors will find the location a great base to explore central London and it will also come in handy for anyone wanting to catch a morning train from Charing Cross!
Much care and attention to detail has been put into the hotel, from the smallest details such as hand made chocolates in the room to candles lining all of the corridors. These efforts are all welcome touches that brings a more personal feel to the hotel. The one aspect that stands out above all is the Charing Cross Hotel’s independence, the hotel seems to thrive on being a large hotel with a personal touch to the extent that they even source flowers and chocolates from small businesses that they have built relationships with over a period of time.
The staff also seem to share the values of the Charing Cross Hotel having pride in their work whilst also being surprisingly open and friendly. Refurbished rooms are appealing with a chocolate finish that makes the rooms cosy and homely. If you are looking to stay in a central location in a hotel with history with more independence, less sterile in nature but with a real personal touch I’d recommend trying the Charing Cross Hotel.
