Maltby Street market is a quaint weekend market underneath the arches at Bermondsey, it’s only one stop on the tube from the more famous Borough Market.
It claims that it isn’t a street market but simply a number of entrepreneurial individuals selling their produce from the rented railway arches.
The stalls at Maltby Street market offer some fresh, unique produce. It’s quite a small market but well worth a leisurely stroll even if it’s just to sample some of the free tasters on offer.
Chairs and tables line the path beneath the arches with intriguing stalls on either side. From South American chocolate and empanadas to olive oil and balsamic vinegar, there’s plenty to keep your hunger at bay.
It’s not as large as some markets in London, but it’s got plenty of character. It’s worth a visit on a lazy Saturday Morning.
