1. Grand Palace
This impressive building complex was the official residence of the Thai Royal Family from the 1700s, and is still used regularly by the King. Many different buildings are housed in the complex. As the Grand Palace is one of the most popular tourist sites in Bangkok, it is best to arrive as soon as it opens to avoid the busiest periods.
2. Wat Arun, Temple of Dawn
There are hundreds of temples all over Bangkok, but Wat Arun is on of the best known, most often photographed and most impressive. The grounds are pleasant to walk around and take photographs and it is also possible to climb part way up the main tower.
3. Wat Pho
Another of the many temples around the city, this one is most famous for its massive reclining Buddha figure. It’s also the home of Thai massage and as well as practitioners offering massage, courses are available too
4. Siam Ocean World
This is a superb attraction for all of the family and is part zoo, part aquarium. The size of the aquarium is vast, and as well as being an enjoyable day out for all of the family, there is an educational aspect to it too. Don’t miss the glass tunnel where you can watch the sharks and stingrays swim overhead.
5. Cook Schools
Thai cuisine is popular the world over, and there are a huge number of cook schools all over the city offering courses of all lengths for tourists, catering to all levels of expertise.
6. Snake Farm
All sorts of snakes are housed at the famous snake farm in Bangkok, including King Cobras and pythons. The venomous snakes are milked to help prepare antidotes for snake bite victims, and the farm also throws its doors open to visitors who wish to learn more about what happens in the farm.
