When planning to travel the world you’ll be looking to do some once in a life time activities or just looking for the chance to do them in an idyllic location. Some extreme sporting activities can be great highlights of your trip.
Personally, I was blown away by bungee jumping, sky diving in New Zealand and scuba diving with sharks in Thailand. You may have different but equally exhilarating preferences.
Below are a few ideas to get you started:
10. Rock Climbing – Karbi, Thailand
If you want a real physical and mental challenge why not try rock climbing? An idea location for this is the limestone cliffs in Karbi, Thailand. It offers a mind blowing coastal view from the limestone rock that is actually part of the world’s largest coral reef.
9. Bungee Jumping – Bloukrans Bridge, South Africa 216 metres
Bungee jumping is high up on many backpacker’s to-do lists as they travel the world. Why not take on the bungee at the Bloukrans Bridge in South Africa, 3rd highest bungee jump in the world. You’ll have a spectacular view for the jump of your life.
8.Zorbing – Rotorua, New Zealand
Fancy pretending to be a rodent? How about a spot of Zorbing? It originated in New Zealand in the 1990’s where the terrain was perfect for throwing yourself down a hill in a giant ball. But don’t worry the outter layer of the zorb takes the impact whilst the Zorber has protection in the inner layer. Add a drop of water for extra entertainment.
7.Fire Walking – Bali
If you fancy braving the coals, why not try some fire walking in Bali. Fire walking isn’t limited to a single country or culture but actually wide spread amongst cultures all over the world.
6.Paragliding – Rio, Brazil
If you can’t quite stomach bungee jumping, how about something slightly more relaxing. You’ll be blown away (not literally!) paragliding over Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as you drift above the Tijuca National Park.
5.Sky Dive – Fox Glacier, New Zealand
For the slightly more hardcore traveller, a sky dive could be a perfect choice. There are plenty of locations all over the world but Fox Glacier in New Zealand gives you a spectacular view of some huge mountains, glaciers and the ocean.
4.Kitesurfing – Philipines
Like kite boarding, kite surfing make use of a kite to propel the surfer through water on a small surf board. It’s quite a tricky sport to pick up so you might want to book a few lessons before wiping yourself out!
3.Ice Climbing – Bariloche, Argentina
Not content with just climbing, you could look into doing some ice climbing in Bariloche, Argentina. As you’d expect from climbing ice high up in the Patagonian mountains the scenery is simply stunning.
2.Scuba Diving – The Great Barrier Reef, Australia
On your travels you could learn to Scuba Dive. If you can Scuba already then you can jump straight in and where better to Scuba dive in the world than Australia’s great barrier reef?
1. Great White Shark Diving – Cape Town, South Africa
Ok, if you really want to turn things up a notch how about cage diving with the great white shark? Seeing these amazing creatures in their own habitat is something you’ll never forget in a hurry. If the video doesn’t put you off, then nothing will!
