As someone who travels quite a lot it’s important for all the gadgets that come along for the ride to be as portable and packable as possible. No one wants to carry a bulky, heavy gadget that requires a load of cables with them unless it’s totally necessary. Thankfully I’ve found the perfect portable speaker that’s an excellent comparion for travelling, road trips, bbq and festivals, the UE Boom.
Sound Quality
The UE Boom is available in many different styles and colours, I was gifted a “blue steel” styled speaker which mainly dark blue with a hint of red. It’s a interesting looking device with its “on” button and bluetooth button on one end and a metal loop that you can use to hang in on the other. You can lay it down, stand it up, place it in your bikes bottle holder or even clip it onto your backpack. It’s really designed to be taken out and about.Setup
It’s extremely easy to setup the UE Boom and anyone who uses any kind of bluetooth device should be able to connect their smart phone to the device straight away. The device I a bluetooth button that you can use to pair a second deveice to so that you can take it in turns playing music.
The speaker also has NFC so you can tap you NFC enabled device on the speaker and it’ll connect via bluetooth. This saves you from having to find the bluetooth speaker and connect via your phone.
Battery Life
The battery life so far has been impressive. I’ve been using the device off and on for a good three weeks and haven’t had to charge it once. The is supposed to have up to 15 hours battery life and I haven’t been disappointed by it’s performacnce at all.
Overview
Pros: Extemely portable, very well built, fits in your luggage well, sounds pan out, great outdoors, easy to hang, useful speakerphone well performing battery life.
Cons: Bass slighty weak, quite expensive
Verdict: The UE Boom is an easy device to love, it’s an unusual shape but solid, rugged and easy to pop in your luggage. It’s an ideal companion for a summer festival, or road trip and its sound quality and volume won’t let you down. If you’re looking for a portable bluetooth speaker to take on your travels the UE Boom is well worth considering.
